Lucia dress PDF & Paper Pattern

The Lucia dress is a midi-length panelled dress with a square neckline and a low back, with the option for a higher back for more coverage. The dress has double princess seams across the front and back and has a centre back zipper to fasten. This dress is unlined.

Skill level:

This pattern is labelled as confident beginner/intermediate. This is due to inserting a zipper and sewing a facing. A confident beginner with a few projects under their belt could tackle this project too!

A basic knowledge of how to use a sewing pattern, and basic sewing machine knowledge is needed for this pattern.

This pattern has been designed for light to medium-weight woven fabric with little to no stretch. We recommend something with a nice structure and nothing too light. You want it to have a little bit of weight to support the shape of the dress. Crisp cottons of a shirting weight, cotton twill, light-weight denim and chambray, linen and linen blends, Tencel, and suitings are all perfect for this dress.

4-20 Size set

150cm width fabric:
Sizes 4-12 - 2.1m / 2.3 yards
Sizes 14-20 - 2.5m / 2.8 yards
137cm width fabric:
Sizes 4-12 - 2.5 / 2.8 yards
Sizes 14-20 - 2.6 / 2.9 yards

16-34 Size set

150cm width fabric:
Sizes 16-22 - 2.6 / 2.9 yards
Sizes 24-32 - 2.8m / 3.1 yards
137cm width fabric:
Sizes 16-22 - 2.8 / 3.1 yards
Sizes 24-32 - 3.3m / 3.6 yards

You will also need:
- 30cm/12” invisible/concealed zipper* (low back option) or 40cm/16” invisible/concealed zipper* (higher back option).
- Small amount of lightweight fusible interfacing (neckline section only).

*If you are using a mid weight fabric such as denim, you could use a standard dress zipper instead of invisible zipper. You can switch out the type of zipper depending on the weight of fabric. Consider that if you use a standard dress zipper, it will add approximately 5mm or 3/16” to the centre back.

This pattern is available in UK sizes 4-34 and comes in two size sets (4-20 and 16-34). With the PDF pattern you will receive all sizes. With the printed pattern, you will need to choose your size bracket.
