Digital Pattern Production Assistant (Freelance / Part-Time)


NH Patterns is looking for a freelance Digital Pattern Production Assistant to support the development and release of our sewing patterns.

This is a flexible freelance position and is ideal for someone with strong Adobe Illustrator skills and an interest in sewing, garment construction, fashion design or pattern cutting.

The role is primarily digital/CAD based and can be carried out remotely, although Manchester-based applicants are also welcome.

Role Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Creating sewing illustrations for instruction booklets
  • Pattern formatting and export setup (A4, A0, projector files, layers etc.)
  • Creating cutting layouts and fabric requirement guides
  • Preparing customer-facing digital pattern files
  • Tech drawings and garment flats
  • Supporting the production and release process for sewing patterns and educational resources

The exact responsibilities may vary depending on experience and skillset.

Ideal Skills & Experience

You do not need to meet every requirement perfectly, but ideal applicants may have:

  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
  • An interest in sewing, garment construction or fashion design
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organisation and file management skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow technical instructions
  • Understanding of sewing patterns or pattern cutting (preferred but not essential)

Role Details

  • Freelance / self-employed basis
  • Flexible, ad hoc workload depending on current projects and release schedules
  • Workload may vary week to week, with quieter periods and busier launch periods
  • Estimated workload averages approximately 1 day per week across the year, although this is not guaranteed or fixed
  • Remote working possible
  • Opportunity for the role to grow longer-term as the business expands

Pay

  • Starting rate from approximately £15 per hour depending on experience
  • Open to discussing project-based pricing for freelancers where appropriate
