Amelia dress - PDF sewing pattern

The Amelia dress pattern is a vintage inspired pattern with multiple views. View A and B are similar in that they both have flutter sleeves, an open back, 6 gore skirt and a centre split at the bust/chest. The difference between the two is that view A has a gathered bodice and B has a plain princess seam bodice. View C has a full back option, no sleeves and a plain bodice. All styles are fully lined and all styles can be mixed and matched.

Sizing:

This pattern comes in two size options. Size UK 4-18 (roughly US 0-14) and size UK 16-26 (roughly US 12-22). These size sets have been drafted separately from different blocks. Please see the images in this listing for body measurements and choose your size set based from this.

Each size set has various cup sizes (please note these are dressmaking cup sizes, not bra sizes. There are detailed instructions on how to determine your dressmaking cup size in the instructions booklet).

Size UK 4-18 file: Dressmaking cup sizes B, C, D.

Size 16-26 files: Dressmaking cup sizes D, E, F.

These are labelled in the file names so you can easily choose which size you wish to print at.

This pattern is a print-at-home pattern or print at a printshop pattern and can be printed on any home printer that provides A4 printing or US Letter printing, or at any printshop that provides A0 or 36"x48" printing. 

Instruction files are only available in 1 paper size, but as the test square is now included within the pattern itself, you can choose to scale the instructions file only, to make it fit onto other paper sizes.

Skill level:

This pattern is labelled as intermediate as there are various skills required throughout the project, such as sewing invisible/concealed zipper, sewing darts, sewing gathers. It is also labelled as intermediate as finding the right cup size pattern can be a little confusing for beginner. Feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions though! 

A basic knowledge of how to use a sewing pattern, and basic sewing machine knowledge is needed for this pattern.

Please note, these files will download as .zip files. You will need to unzip the files before using. On an apple computer you can double click the zipped file, and this will open a new folder that contains the patterns.

On a windows computer you will need to right click on the .zip folder, and click "extract all".

This is a PDF file, and therefore will need to be opened in a programme that accepts pdf format. Adobe reader works well and can be downloaded online completely free for windows/mac! "Preview" also works well on Apple Mac computers.

You only need to print the files that are relevant to you.

For example, if you are a UK customer and print on an A4 sized printer, you will want to download both A4 files, but can ignore the US Letter sized files.

If you are a UK customer and want to print your pattern file at a printshop in large format, download the A0 printshop file, to print at a printshop, and then download the A4 pattern and instruction file for your instructions.

Fabric and notions:

This pattern has been designed for lightweight woven fabric with little to no stretch. We recommend using something with a nice drape such as viscose/rayon, crepe, model/tencel etc. If you’re making view A, you could also consider using chiffon or something sheer for your main fabric and use something opaque for your lining! Think carefully about the fabric you choose for this dress, as different fabrics will produce different results. Lightweight cottons and linens could also work for this dress, but you may end up with a more structured style than the dress was designed for.

You will need: 

- Main fabric & Lining fabric.

- 23cm/9” invisible zipper (View A & B) or 51cm/20” invisible zipper (View C).

- 2.5cm/1” Bias binding (I personally make my own from the leftover scraps of fabric)

- Stay tape (or fusible interfacing cut into strips)

Extra info:

Please sew a test sample before using your final fabric, (in a similar fabric to that of your final fabric) to ensure a good fit, and to allow for any alterations needed before sewing the final garment.

Both the US letter and A4 patterns are written in UK sizing and you should determine which size to cut based on your UK size measurements.
