Helena wrap dress - PDF sewing pattern

The Helena wrap dress pattern is a midi length true wrap dress with adjustable straps, a tie waist belt to fasten and a bodice lining.
*This pattern is a layered pattern. Giving you the option to print only the sizes you wish to print. Included in the files available to download after purchase is a "how to print a layered pattern" document, to guide you through the process should you wish to use this feature. You can also continue to print with all sizes if you wish. This new pattern style also offers coloured lines for individual sizes to make it easier to follow. You can also print in black and white if you wish.*

This PDF Pattern includes 4 different printer sizes. These are:
A4 pattern files - 29 pages
US letter pattern files - 34 pages
Instruction booklet - 15 pages
US 36x48" pattern file - 2 pages
A0 pattern file - 2 pages
These are labelled in the file names so you can easily choose which size you wish to print at.
This pattern is a print-at-home pattern or print at a printshop pattern and can be printed on any home printer that provides A4 printing or US Letter printing, or at any printshop that provides A0 or 36"x48" printing.
Instruction files are only available in 1 paper size, but as the test square is now included within the pattern itself, you can choose to scale the instructions file only, to make it fit onto other paper sizes.

Skill level:
This pattern is labelled as intermediate, due to the skills needed sew a bodice lining and adjustable straps, but also due to the slightly more complicated nature of the wrap nature of the pattern. This pattern is also mostly drawn instruction rather than photos which some people find a little more challenging. So if you are an advanced beginner with some experience and want something a little more challenging, then go for it! Just remember to always make a sample before the final garment.
A basic knowledge of how to use a sewing pattern, and sewing machine knowledge is needed for this pattern.

Please note, some files will download as .zip files. You will need to unzip the files before using. On an apple computer you can double click the zipped file, and this will open a new folder that contains the patterns.
On a windows computer you will need to right click on the .zip folder, and click "extract all".
This is a PDF file, and therefore will need to be opened in a programme that accepts pdf format. Adobe reader works well and can be downloaded online completely free for windows/mac! "Preview" also works well on Apple Mac computers.
You only need to print the files that are relevant to you.
For example, if you are a UK customer and print on an A4 sized printer, you will want to download both A4 files, but can ignore the US Letter sized files.
If you are a UK customer and want to print your pattern file at a printshop in large format, download the A0 printshop file, to print at a printshop, and then download the A4 pattern and instruction file for your instructions.

Fabric and notions:
This pattern has been designed for light-medium weight woven fabric with little to no stretch and some drape. Fabrics that works well are viscose, crepe, crepe-de-chine, crepe, satin, silk etc. You could also use something lightweight and breathable such as a cotton poplin. This would also work well for the dress, but the lack of drape will create a more structured look in the skirt, as opposed to a silk for example which will create a fluid draped look.
The fabric used in the main image is a polyester/tencel blend fabric.
You will need:
- Main fabric
- 2 x 10mm rings and 2x 10mm sliders
- Lining fabric. I personally line the bodice in the same fabric as the main dress but if you would like to use a seperate fabric for your lining then you will need this extra lining fabric.
- Lightweight fusible interfacing (optional).

Sizing:
This pattern is sized for UK sizes 4 - 18 (US sizes 0-14). Included in the PDF (and the product images) is a size chart, so you can work out your best fitting size based on the chart. Please sew based on your measurements rather than your normal store bought size.
Please note - both the US letter and A4 patterns are written in UK sizing and you should determine which size to cut based on your UK size measurements.

Extra info:
Please sew a test sample before using your final fabric, (in a similar fabric to that of your final fabric) to ensure a good fit, and to allow for any alterations needed before sewing the final garment.

This pattern is not to be copied, re-sold, or passed on to any other person.
You CAN however sell the garments you make from this pattern, so long as it is only you using the pattern to sew from a small home based setting and the pattern itself is not passed onto other staff members or manufacturers to sew for you.
